Prayer for 2021

God, I give you this year — please make it shine for your glory

I let go of any expectations and embrace a supernatural, dreams-fulfilled story

You are so worthy of endless honor and adoration

You spoke the universe into being and imagined me into your creation

Draw near to me as I draw near to you

My maker, my anchor, my truth, my breakthrough

Show me the areas of my life where I must decrease

Search me and know me, God — you have my yes for eternal increase

Let there be light in places where I’ve allowed darkness to creep in

Let there be holiness, health, triumph, grace, a fresh wind

I raise the white flag of my will and surrender all that I am

Teach me the ways of the Lion and the Lamb

Help me to steward times and seasons with wisdom and insight

To always be battle ready with armor designed for any fight

May the helmet of salvation guard my wandering mind

May the breastplate of righteousness steer my heart to the divine

May the belt of truth hold my words and actions accountable

May my feet wrapped in peace lead people to the Gospel

May the sword of the Spirit be wielded with abundant love and holy fire

May the shield of faith protect me from harmful lies and enemy sniper

Let me not go one day without saturating in the beauty of scripture

The living Word — the ultimate manual on living as a victor

Strengthen my prayer life and let me crave more of your presence

Let my precious time with you release the fragrance of heaven’s essence

On the hard days, let me not forget to continually praise you

On the good days, let me remember to always thank you

Be the constant source of my smile, song, and stability

My ever-present help rooted in heaven-kissed surety

Let me feast on fruit that nurtures my soul

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control

May revival envelop my family, neighborhood, city, state, and nation

May encounters with your beloved Son awaken hearts with hope-filled revelation

God, I give you every day of 2021

For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever — it’s a year you’ve already won

Thank you Chris for launching this blog and posting such a powerful prayer. May the Lord use each and everyone one of us to share the Gospel in 2021 so that all may know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

  1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11   Have you ever heard the refrain, "Why is God punishing me?" Yes, religious people can suffer.
